What is guided imagery?
Guided Imagery is a powerful tool for healing the mind, body and spirit. It is not a substitute for medical intervention, but it is an elegantly simple method to help in the healing process. In recent years there has been an increasing body of research on guided imagery showing impressive results in reducing anxiety and depression, alleviating pain and tension in the body, and lowering high blood pressure. In addition it has also been shown that guided imagery can help elevate the immune system, and improve performance and creativity.
Below are some audio tracts of guided imagery that I have composed. They are free for your use.
All you need to do to take advantage of this powerful tool is to get comfortable, sitting in a chair, on the floor, or lying on your bed. If you do choose to lie down, you are more likely to fall asleep, and this is fine, if you want to use this for helping you to go to sleep, or to take a nap. Otherwise it is best to sit up and to have the intention of focused alertness. At the same time you will be guided to relax, so it is advised that you not listen to this while driving.
You will probably find that your mind will wander some, this is normal. Just make note of that stray thought or feeling, and gently bring your mind back to my voice. Repeated listening to guided imagery will help your body and mind to learn to relax, so that you can heal more easily, and enjoy your life more!
Guided Imagery for Compassion is 30 minutes long. It will help you relax your body and mind, in order to experience a beautiful peaceful place in nature, to experience a healing light inside your body, and to fill yourself with compassion, send compassionate "vibes" to others, and to the whole world! The last 10 minutes is an experience of mindfulness meditation.
Guided Imagery for Peace and Healing is 13 minutes long. It will help you relax your body and mind, experience a beautiful place in nature, and a "messenger" from God, with a gift for you! Use this to have a short experience of learning how to calm, and if you can take the time, have a journal handy to write, as if you have just had a waking dream.
This Guided Imagery is about 20 minutes long, and especially designed for your relaxation and for your awesome imagination to envision the peace and justice and joy that we wish for all living beings, for the living earth, Gaia.
This is celtic harp music, especially composed by Kimbal Howard, and me, for your enjoyment. No words, just music, very calming, many people love to go to sleep with this. It is 20 minutes long.
